Get Ready for a Bumpy Ride
Well, it looks like Instagram is putting those June 1st changes into effect a LITTLE early. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Back in Nov 2015, Instagram announced that they would be changing how they interacted with 3rd party apps with the cutoff date of June 1, 2016. We are still not entirely sure what this all means but our ASSUMPTION from the news snippets is the many 3rd party apps that Auto-like, Auto-comment, Auto-follow on your behalf are getting cut off as well as many services that provide viewing of “feeds” other than your own.
We suspect that they are cutting off “on your behalf” apps ie Tailwind as opposed to “express permission” ie MyCommenter.
They state on their developer website the below:
As an example, we use SquareLovin’ to track our daily stats and it stopped tracking on Friday.
BUT we honestly don’t know and just as nervous as you are.
We do recommend that you review the list of 3rd party apps that have access to your account here: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/manage_access/ and make sure you know who has hooks into your account.
In addition, we have seen MANY posts this AM about security alerts so Instagram is UP TO SOMETHING.
We have also seen a lot of posts about accounts having their photo deleted after posting. It happened to us also and we suspect it was because we were both in our business account @insta.revealed working on different things. In the future, only one person will be working on our business account.
Stay tuned but we wanted to put out a note on things we are seeing so other know that it’s not just them.
